Thanet Star - actively improving Thanet one idea at a time

Predictable snow post

Yes ladies and germs it has snowed and outside there is plenty of the white stuff on the ground (and snow).

Early reports are that the people who grit the roads were, once more, caught off guard by the very seasonal appearance of snow. Which leaves me wondering if the sun rising in the morning is likewise a bit of a surprise.

I can just picture them waking up and shouting Oh my gosh! Another day. I guess I had better get up then. Now, do I have any clothes? Nope going to have to go buy some. Golly this has caught me right by surprise and no mistake...

Post your icy comments and snowy observations in the comments.

Sir W.S. Gilbert (of Gilbert & Sullivan fame) once wrote a letter to The Times complaining about the lateness of trains: "[Saturday].. which recurs at stated and well-ascertained intervals, is treated as a phenomenon entirely outside the ordinary operations of nature.. no attempt whatever is made to grapple with its inherent difficulties. To the question 'What has caused the train to be so late?' the official's reply is 'It is Saturday'." This was in the 19th Century, so it seems that Officialdom being unprepared for the obvious is not a new phenonemon.

@huddi1 Short thaw expected Monday then freezing conditions. Expect lots of road ice. Could get stuck at a friend's house for a while.
